Project Details

Server Deployment Assistant is a server-side solution for Browser-as-a-Service applications.

Currently the Assistant isn’t fully generic. Although you can configure some settings via the settings.xml file, functionality is limited. However, you can already build your own Browser-as-a-Service application based solely on the existing Assistant code, without modifying it. I recommend updating settings.xml so that port numbers and the CefSharp cache path are unique—this lets users run multiple solutions on one device.

The Assistant is under active development. The main goal is to create a universal tool that any developer can use to build WebView-like applications—e.g., a WhatsApp client.

Help the project grow—report issues and suggest new features! Note that the ultimate aim is to create a shared server for fans of legacy mobile systems, bringing them back to life, even if only briefly. If you have ideas on how to achieve this, start a discussion outlining your proposal.

Server Deployment Assistant is an open-source developer tool. You may use it freely, provided you follow these guidelines:

  • You may not sell the Assistant or its modifications. You may still monetize your client application as you wish.
For example: you create MyApp that uses the Assistant and charge $0.99 for MyApp. That’s fine—but you must make your modified Assistant itself available for free.
  • If your application uses the Assistant or its modifications, you must credit the specific Assistant version on your “About” page.
For example: “Powered by Server Deployment Assistant”
  • Do not use the name “Server Deployment Assistant” as a primary branding element of your application—no app titles or marketing emphasis implying exclusivity.
Note: monetizing a Windows 10 Mobile app itself is largely futile—but nothing stops your client from targeting modern OSes, so these rules still matter. :-)
